Write down all the things that make you feel happy and bring you joy.

It may not be easy. I know. That’s because we forget about ourselves pretty often. But when you sit down to write the list of at least 50 things that you love doing, you’ll get to remind yourself what you actually need to do on a daily basis to be happy.

Make time to meditate at least ten minutes each day.

There are different types of meditations that help you get rid of anxiety, fall asleep, focus on the present. My favorite app for meditations is Ten Percent Happier. The free version is what I use and it’s more than enough for beginners.

Don’t forget to read.

In this hectic world, we might find it difficult to read as there seems to be little time for it.

Stay away from people that bring negative energy in your life.

It is important to surround yourself with positive people rather than toxic ones.

Have some time alone.

This will help you put your thoughts in order and reconnect with your inner self which is priceless.

Enjoy a good night sleep.

Needless to say, that good sleep is a huge part of our overall health and wellbeing. The better you sleep the more energy you have during the day. Focus on developing the night routine that you’ll love.

Choose your outfits just the way you like them.

Whether you work from home or go to the office every day, having clothes that you can’t wait to put on is priceless. Have you noticed that new workout clothes add to your motivation to go to the gym? The same applies to the clothes that you wear to work or at home (if you work from home).

Use aromatherapy.

Get a diffuser and essential oils, and infuse the air around you with scents to help you relax and add more comfort to your home.

What are you grateful for? Write it down!

You can write on a piece of paper – five or ten things that you are grateful for each day. Do this every evening! And you’ll develop a new appreciation for what you have in life.

Need some gratitude prompts? HERE you go.

Connect with nature.

Spending time outdoors is crucial for your mind and body. Try to take at least a 30 minutes walk each day to indulge in some sunlight. Besides, Vitamin D is essential.

Learn to say no.

This is one of the hardest habits you will have to develop but it is important to know when to say no and express your feelings.

Take breaks from social media.

You don’t need to get off social media platforms for good. But stay away from them for a few hours each day to reconnect with real life.

Love your furry friend.

If you have a pet, you know that they need your love just as much as you need theirs.

Cook your own food.

Cooking your food could be a great ritual itself. For me personally, it’s a sort of meditation.

Watch a cartoon.

If you don’t like cartoons, you can go back to your favorite childhood movie or tv show. It will help you find your inner child and will bring back the memories.

The power of naps could do miracles for you.

I’ve heard from so many people that taking a nap is what helps them recharge. I don’t usually do this, but you may find it helpful. So why not at least try?

Keep your mindset on the positive side.

Every struggle you go through will pass with time and nothing is permanent. This is why you should focus on the positive outcome of every situation.

Enjoy your favorite tea.

Having a cup of tea is a part of my self care routine. No matter how hectic my day gets, I take a break, make a cup of tea and go to the porch for at least 5-10 minutes.

Express your feelings.

And don’t judge yourself for it. Communication is important in any relationship. You should learn to express what you feel without making anyone feel bad.

Start a journal.

Journal prompts will get you started. Expressing your feelings on paper helps you rediscover yourself.

Drink plenty of water.

Just make sure you’re hydrated during the day!

Go to the doctor regularly.

Regular health check-ups is a habit that can both set your mind at ease and be life-saving. Don’t neglect this one. Prevention is far better than intervention.

Take care of your body and skin.

Having a skincare routine in place is what makes me feel better on all levels. It’s definitely an investment that paid off because my skin felt better and fresher daily.

Work out.

Working out keeps you in shape and in a good health condition. This is why you should always make time to work out at least three times a week. You don’t have to do anything hard and/or complicated, either. If you can even get a 20-30 minute walk outside incorporated into your days, you’ll be far better off.

Enjoy a beautiful sunset when you have the occasion.

Depending on where you live this might be a common thing or a luxury.

Take yourself out every now and then.

Especially if being around people brings you energy and joy.

Develop a new hobby.

You can grow through your hobbies and find new aspects about yourself that you didn’t even know you had.

Be honest with yourself.

About everything!

Put your happiness first.

This is pretty self-explanatory, right?

Self Care is for Everyone

Even though some of the above might cost money, they don’t all cost money.

This is why self care is for everyone. It’s about more than getting the nails done and spending a lot on a fancy massage.

Instead, it’s about the basics, returning to something a little simpler as often as possible.
