MailerLite vs. Mailchimp

My original quest was for an email marketing provider that featured all the great stuff found with Mailchimp – impeccable aesthetics, easy to use, and affordable rates. All that, but without the limitation that follows multiple email welcome sequences. And then there is the thing when one person is interested in multiple topics. You don’t want that one person to be counted as many times as there are topics in which he/she is interested. That’s an attribute to a solid number of people and something that can significantly spike up the price.

MailerLite vs. ConvertKit

At the same time, I needed a tool that also had the capability to provide sequencing, automation, segmentation, and all the other top features that come with ConvertKit. However, without a price of $29 for less than 1000 subscribers. For a total beginner that’s not a small amount to splash every month.

MailerLite vs. Leadpages

After MailChimp and ConvertKit came Leadpages. But again things didn’t work out as expected. Leadpages is used to create landing pages with clickable sign-up popup boxes. And by any means they are great. But at that moment almost all of my landing pages were already made in Squarespace. That makes the $37 monthly subscription for Leadpages bit over the top.

And after trying out MailChimp, ConvertKit, and Leadpages, came MailerLite. The only tool that checked all the right boxes. Here is why it’s better than anything else on the market today.

MailerLite’s customizable capabilities

One of the biggest reasons why MailerLite achieved massive success and is so popular with online entrepreneurs is because so many of its features can be customized. From the colors and words you choose to the layout of your landing pages and email templates. All that in perfect alignment with your brand.

  • Custom Templates

MailerLite offers a big portfolio of preloaded themes. But in addition to that, you can create your own.

  • Custom Unsubscribe Template

No one likes people unsubscribing, but that happens and is part of how things work. You win some, you lose some, and it is not much you can do but hope that you will win more than you lose. In any case, the idea is to always have a class, even when people are leaving.

  • Custom buttons

Email providers like ConvertKit offer custom buttons as well. But in order to add one with them, you will need to switch to code mode and create one. That’s not the case with MailerLite. There you add a button with one click and you can make it however you feel like. There is absolutely no need for coding or anything that requires special knowledge.

  • Each image can be customized

Not only can you add any picture you want, you can also choose some from their own library. Again, services like ConvertKit don’t recommend using images of any kind. But then there are some brands that depend on their visual representation and pictures are a big part of their marketing efforts. That’s where MailerLite is at its best.

  • Add a personal touch to your emails

On each of your emails, you can place your own image and show that there is a real person behind the brand. An image of yourself, and maybe a short tagline, make things more personal, brings you closer to your subscribers.

Top Reasons Why MailerLite Rocks And Everything Else Sucks!

Any avid fan of MailerLite can probably talk for hours why it is the best out there. But let’s skip that and get to the main points. And those are that MailerLite beats every other service in three main categories: features, customization, and cost.

The Top Features of MailerLite

There is so much that it is hard to choose with which one to start. Here are the ones that make it what it is, a great email provider:

  • Clickable email popups inside MailerLite
  • Optional signup boxes within MailerLite
  • Great looking landing pages within MailerLite
  • Can make great looking countdown timers within MailerLite
  • Automation sequences within the platform
  • Can add social media links within MailerLite
  • Can make your own email templates
  • MailerLite can be added to other platforms such as Foursquare
  • There is a live chat. (it comes even with a free version)
  • It has its own affiliate program

The Cons of MailerLite

Yup, not all is perfect in the world of MailerLite. There are few downsides as well. Here are the ones you should be aware of:

  • Can’t make the text on the buttons bold. It sounds bit trivial, but some folks like to have control even over the little things.
  • Too many options. It’s good to have options, but it is an issue when there are so many that you can’t make your mind which one will suit you the most.

Final Thoughts On MailerLite

It’s the perfect mix of great features and affordable rates. Especially, if you are just starting your online hustle, blog, website, or whatever you might have planned. There are plenty of other email providers out there and most of them are okay. But none of them offers so much bang for your money. And hey, don’t believe it, go check it out yourself. I promise you will get back to MailerLite in a heartbeat.
